Unit 4 - Story 2

1st:

Entering the cellar to find an inventor who just finished inventing his deck chair.

2nd:

He tests it by closing the deck chair but, fails to open it up again.

3rd:

He gives up on trying to open it and leaves. However, once he left, the deck chair suddenly opens by surprise.

This is what me and Dmitrij agreed on over on Skype. It seems to show the character to be an inventor and it's uses with the choosen environment I recieved. The first idea did in a way but doesn't show that the character is the inventor.

Will do a more detailed story of this.

What could show that he is an inventor is the way the chair was made. Like for example if the chair didn't open if it was too high tech or something. I really like this idea, cause it's comedic and the thing with character trying different and even drastic things to open something is practically used in animations. I think this would be a great variant.

Yeah. I may make the deck chair high tech. Like you said over Skype, I could make the style of it like in the movie Tron. Or, maybe make the deck chair to be a medevil like style and also to look like it's been made at that time. For something to cause it to not open will have to be the type of screws he used. Like old rust ones or something like that.

You could try a remote control mechanism, since the batteries died on the controller he is forced to try practical attempts to open it

Yeah but I think a overload sounds good for the robot as the inventor is pushing it over it's limits.

I like the idea of a remote control deckchair...what if the inventor had sold his design to lots of people...what would happen if they were all sitting in their chairs on the beach and he used his remote control to fold his own chair away? :)
Time to start storyboarding some of the ideas!

Actually, Jackie. The remote control was for the robot that the inventor used to open the deck chair he created.

But those remote controls could be different. For example, the deck chair could have a simple like TV remote control with just a few buttons for adjustment, while the robot control could be either a game joystick like controller or even a whole console

True, or as the deck chair is going to be in a Tron style, add touchable buttons on it.

Don't forget you only have a minute! I suggest you start doing some rough storyboards so you can see if or how these ideas will work in the time scale given.
