Unit 3 - Twisted Corridor Image - Suggestions Please




A twisted corridor from a game called the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Would this be a good idea for me to use for my Environment project? But, it will be a room, not a corridor.

I think it could be difficult to break away from the corridoor shot you have, or it could end up looking like that famous painting with all the stairs (dont throw a book at me :( ). but if you can pull it off and give it an interesting 'twist' it might work out.

Naomi - I guess you're struggling with the conceptual side of this project. How well do you understand 'the uncanny'? And also, how much research have you done into the artists on the brief? Have you looked again at the briefing presentation - I think you should. The point about this project is that it's a subtle one. The distortions you're planning are too much - they physically alter the geometry to get their effect, but this feels like a 'cheap trick'. You need to consider creating a more suggestive scene - using lighting, atmosphere and environment to create the unease. I suggest you drop these ideas of physically distorting the space so obviously, and look instead at the work of the artists/photographers/other students, and try and identify why they work, and how they create their effects.
