Unit 1 - Digital Painting Test 1




I do not like this at all. Not one bit. Though I am not good at Digital Painting as I use digital art in another way, but I hope I get better at it. Anyway, it's not my best of work but tried my best. The hair was a pain to do though it looked simple...tried shading it but it went wrong in the process. However, I always wanted to do Digital Painting lineless like most artists I see around on sites like SheezyArt, etc. Though, how I do my Digital Art is Sketch, Outline, Solid Colour then Shading. That's what I basically do really.

Yes, more of my Watermark. I will do this to all my Computer Art Work but traditional ones won't as no one can take the originals.

Unit 1 - 3D Dice





This was my third try on making the 3D Dice and it turned good for once. The first try is when the dice was messed up when looking at the UV Mapping. The second try was when the texture was messed up because, yet again, of the UV Mapping. The third try went very well and I had help with putting the texture on. Yes, I put my own watermark on it to show it has been done by me.

Unit 1 - La Belle et La Bete




Directed by Jean Cocteau and was released in France in 1946 but wasn't released in the UK till 2008. I couldn't say much about this film as it's like the Disney one but objects talk to you while the old one doesn't as it shows hands move the objects for you and that doors automatically opens when you want to enter the next room.
















When the Beast dies in the old film, he suddenly came to life and turned to a Prince while Avenant got shot in the back by a statue, turning him into a beast, killing him. The Disney one however, was different as to break the curse, Bella must love him back.












This film has a dark tone in it, not bacause it's black and white, it's the features used to represent it. The film shows more of the features in the castle and the forest than anywhere else, giving it an eerie feeling like your in a haunted house. Also, this film used all the technology on what the late 40's had to offer to create it.

1. Not just focusing on the potential of the film itself but the creativity used to make the film bring out our inner child.

2. Somthing than no one should forget about on how wonderous the scenes were in the castle.

Unit 1 - Research 4

Mythology is everywhere in the world from Ancient Egypt to European. But how did they come to be? Well, that is from stories told from the past, being spread to each individual who will tell the same story over again to others who will spread it more. Those who are religious believe that the stories are true, even today. But, those who are not, don't believe they are real at all. No one knows the truth behind it all. Mythology is a great thing to see in movies and stories as it brings up your imagination on what that person/creature looks like. Using no images at all but your imagination, explain a mythical creature like a Griffin and imagine on what it looks like, without looking up any images on it.

Unit 1 - Research 3




This game pretty much has metamorphosis involved in it. Also it shows transformation but doesn't show what happens inbetween it like what the remake of the Fly has. The game shows characters with names of mortals and as well as gods from Ancient Egypt. For example, Imhotep, Tutankhamen, Set, Osiris, Anubis. The game also mentions the names of other gods like Ra.

Eurocom, the developers of the game were inspired by the mythology of Ancient Egypt which made them create this game. In my view, it has a good plot to it and has reasonable graphics, as I do own the game myself. The game was made for the Xbox, Playstation 2 and Gamecube, so if your thinking of getting it, go ahead and get it.

This may not be classify as research but still involves in the project.

Unit 1 - Idea Sketches 1

This is my third idea which I am pretty proud of but I still got other ideas to go through and draw.


This is my second idea but I didn't drawn the whole thing so it's more related to the third one above it, so no changes there.



This is my first one. I thought of drawing the legs out of the shell as tentacles and putting the eye on the hip. Didn't work well though it was a good idea.



Drawn the original to see what it would look like in my style. I am actually proud of what I have drawn so hopefully, when I finally choose what idea to have of myself as a Nautilus, it will turn out well for the final piece.

Unit 1 - Life Drawing 1





In life drawing, my class had a female model to draw from. Thank god it wasn't a wrinkly old man. Anyway, this is what I have drawn first before we started drawing parts from the model. I won't submit the other one as I am drawing 2 hands and 4 feet from using references from my own body as it will count up as 5 sketches for both as said on the brief itself.

Unit 1 - The Fly (1958 and 1986)



















The Fly 1958


Directed by Kurt Neumann and released in Norway originally. A scientist tested himself to see if humans can be transported using his transportation pods but....something went wrong. He hid his face using a black sheet while his wife comes in to bring him food but soon came curious on why he hid his face. When she suggested him to get teleported again to change back to normal, he disagreed at first then agreed to give it a go. Nothing had changed when he teleported but instead, he shocked his wife when she revealed him, making her faint. As he destroyed his transportation pods, he wanted his wife to kill him as he did not want to live like he is now. His wife managed to do so and was questioned a day later by his brother.


Three quotes in italics from the film and three answers on what they mean by my own words.

1. This is how things happen when teleportation goes wrong. You end up killing one thing and the other person kills the other.

Quote 1: "You've commited murder just as much as Helene did. You killed a fly with a human head. She killed a human with a fly head."

2. A cry for help as a fly with a man's head.

Quote 2: "Help Me! Help Me!"


3. Things wouldn't be amusing if life had no violence.

The Fly 1986


The remake of the fly made in 1958, shows a different plot but still features the transportation pods and the scientist turning into a fly. The movie was directed by David Cronenburg, which was released in the UK on the 13th Feburary 1986. This movie shows more what a fly can do than it did with the first and as well as showing gruesome things. The scientist wasn't married in this movie but showed that he is in love with a Journalist. The Journalist killed him with a gun when he fully changed into a monsterous insect.


What I prefered best was the remake of the movie as it showed more of the transformation and the behaviour of the fly itself. Also, the scientist in the first movie of The Fly, wanted to die as he doesn't want to look like he is now. However, the remake of the movie, the scientist wanted to live, to show everyone that he was the first to splice with another living thing. But soon died when trying to get the Journalist to slice with him in the transformation pods with their unborn baby.

1. Seth wanted the disease to do what it wants so he could be the first to have transformed into something that has never existed before in the real world.

Quote 1: "Whaddaya think? A fly. Am I becoming a hundred-and-eighty-five-pound fly? No, I'm becoming something that never existed before. I'm becoming... Brundlefly. Don't you think that's worth a Nobel Prize or two?"

2. Seth hoped that teleportation could change everyone's life, without the use of transportation.

Quote 2: "What am I working on? Uhhh ... I'm working on something that will change the world and human life as we know it."


3. Seth explained how the teleportation suddenly sliced him and the fly into one. Like mating one species and another to see what the child will look like when it's born.

Quote 3: "A fly... got into the... transmitter pod with me that
first time, when I was alone. The computer... got confused - there
werent supposed to be two separate genetic patterns - and it
decided to... uhh... splice us together. It mated us, me and the
fly. We hadnt even been properly introduced."

I have found a list of Egyptian Gods and Monsters that respresent the project I am doing.

Mythology is the way people told stories to explain Natural Phemonena. An origin Myth is a Specific Myth that explains how something came to be. Like the way the Greeks explain thunderstorms or the seasons, thinking that they were responsible for according to their feelings.

Unit 1 - Research 1

I have been doing Research on Metamorphosis first before I start to research on my chosen Hybrid. When I researched into it, it came up with what Metamorphosis is and also on a Book, written by Franz Kafka. I have heard of the book as it was a project I did previously when I was in College at the UCA of Maidstone. The book was about a man called Gregor Samsa who woke up in the morning, seeing that he has transformed into a monsterous insect. Unable to work in his condition, his father had to work at the bank to provide food and water for the family as well as paying owned debts. Problems occur for Gregor soon later in the story but I let you guys find out when you read the book. For a little extra, here is a quote from the book.

"It seemed remarkable to Gregor that above all the various noises of eating their chewing teeth could still be heard, as if they had wanted to show Gregor that you need teeth in order to eat and it was not possible to perform anything with jaws that are toothless however nice they might be. 'I'd like to eat something,' said Gregor anxiously, 'but not anything like they're eating. They do feed themselves. And here I am, dying!"

What Metamorphosis is and does is pretty simple as everything basically goes through it. From Child to Adult, Spring to Winter, Day to Night, Caterpillar to Butterfly, Tadpole to Frog and so on. I researched about this also when I was at the UCA of Maidstone, but it was like the project I am doing now except that everyone in the class had to do the same animal, which was a Chicken.

Right, now for my chosen Hybrid. It's original name is Nautilus and the lifespan lasts up to 20 years. They are Preditors and eat Shrimps, Small Fish and Orthoceras as their diet. I found a couple of videos showing more information on the Hybrid and it's movement.

Unit 1 - Anatomy

I have picked an Hybrid, Nautilus Pompilius, by random from a box to use for this project. These are the pictures of what that animal looks like as well as its anatomy.
